The apocalypse is imminent in the trailer for the sci-fi series Goodbye Earth
Sci-fi dystopia on Netflix: This is what Goodbye Earth is all about
In the Netflix series Goodbye Earth, humanity must come to terms with the inevitable end when one day the terrible news is announced that an asteroid will collide with Earth in 300 days. 100 days later, we witness the chaotic conditions in South Korea. Here the situation is particularly dire, as the Korean peninsula will be the site of the first impact.
The basic premise sounds like a mix of Armageddon and Lars von Trier’s end-time drama Melancholia. In the Netflix series, however, the impending apocalypse is told in a more action-packed way. Violence, crime, conspiracy theories and brutal cults are just as much a part of the plot as a teacher who does not shy away from vigilante justice to protect her pupils.
The sci-fi series was staged by director Jin-min Kim. He previously directed the thriller series Extracurricular and My Name for Netflix. The story of Goodbye Earth is based on the Japanese novel Shumatsu No Furu (or The Fool At the End of the World) by Kôtarô Isaka. It also provided the basis for the action hit Bullet Train.
When does Goodbye Earth start on Netflix?
Even sooner a series asteriod can crash to earth, Goodbye Earth is already on your watchlist. Netflix is adding the dystopian sci-fi series to its program on 26 April 2024. All 12 episodes will be directly available at the start
