Marvel fans have been waiting since 2021 for the fourth installment of the Spider-Man series starring Tom Holland. Now the star gives a hopeful update on his future in the MCU.
It’s been a while since we last saw Tom Holland in his Spider-Man costume on the big screen. Spider-Man: No Way Home hit cinemas worldwide in 2021 and went on to become the most successful film in the series with box office takings of over 1.9 billion US dollars. So it’s no wonder that fans are eagerly awaiting the fourth part of the series.
Whether Tom Holland will squeeze into his red and blue costume again for Spider-Man 4 is out of the question for the actor. He has now given an encouraging update on his future in the MCU.
Tom Holland will always want to return to Spider-Man
To introduce his brother Harry Holland’s short film Last Call, the Spider-Man star recently found himself at the Sands International Film Festival in St. Andrews, Scotland. There, he told Deadline that his career is forever linked to Spider-Man:
‘The simple answer is, I’ll always want to play Spider-Man. I owe my life and my career to Spider-Man. So the simple answer is ‘yes’. I will always want to do more.
How far this plan can be realized for Spider-Man 4, however, is a little more complicated. Because a sequel should not simply repeat what is already known, but rather expand the story of Peter Parker in a worthy manner:
The best in the business are currently working on the movie’s story. Until we crack that, we have a legacy to uphold. The third installment was special in so many ways, we want to make sure we get it right.
Holland also revealed that he was excited to be involved in the creative process for Spider-Man 4:
‘It’s the first time I’ve been involved in the creative process this early. It’s a process where I’m watching and learning. It’s a lot of fun. As I said, everyone wants it to happen. But we have to make sure that we’re not just doing the same thing again.
