Netflix is bringing Eddie Murphy back as cult cop Axel Foley. Now it’s also clear when exactly Beverly Hills Cop 4 will start streaming
Once a cop, always a cop. This apparently also applies to Eddie Murphy as Axel Foley from the Beverly Hills Cop series: after a 30-year break, part 4 of Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F. is in the starting blocks for this summer. Netflix has now announced an exact start date: The action sequel is set to be released on July 3, 2024, according to a press release.
This is what it’s all about in Beverly Hills Cop 4 on Netflix
After his wild Beverly Hills days, Axel Foley (Murphy) has retired and become a father. But when his daughter (Taylour Paige) is in danger, the Detroit lawman once again turns to his colleagues from Los Angeles. And a wild ride through one of the richest neighborhoods in California begins.

Axel F. and the Beverly Hills Cop series became a cult hit from the very first part, Beverly Hills Cop – I’ll Solve That Case Anyway from 1984. Two more sequels followed. Since 1994, however, there has been radio silence on the big screen. Plans for an Axel F. series without Murphy in the lead role were buried in the mid-2010s.
Murphy is not the only Beverly Hills Cop veteran to return for part 4: Judge Reinhold, John Ashton and Stranger Things star Paul Reiser will once again be at his side as colleagues. The new additions include Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Kevin Bacon.
