So far, the upcoming Deadpool sequel has been hyped as a massive multiverse event with countless references. Now the director has made a new statement that is irritating.
With Deadpool & Wolverine, we can look forward to the craziest multiverse spectacle since Spider-Man: No Way Home. At least that’s what the hype surrounding the Marvel sequel promises so far, with countless Easter eggs, references and appearances by well-known characters or surprising stars.
But now Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy has spoken out about the film once again and made a promise that will confound expectations of the blockbuster
Deadpool & Wolverine should entertain completely without prior knowledge
According to Comic Book, the director made a statement to the Associated Press, according to which the upcoming Deadpool sequel will probably require less to no prior superhero knowledge than previously assumed:
I was a good student in school. As an adult, I’ll do my homework. But I definitely don’t plan on doing homework when I go to the movies.
I made this movie with a healthy respect and gratitude to the enthusiastic fan community that knows the mythology and worlds of these characters and this world so well. But I didn’t want to take that for granted. This movie is meant to be entertainment, without the obligation to be prepared with prior research.
So far, it is already certain that the TVA (Time Variance Authority), which was introduced in the Loki series on Disney+, plays a role in the story of Deadpool & Wolverine. Leaks of set images have also teased many stars and characters who could make surprise appearances in the upcoming Marvel blockbuster.

How big this portion of Easter eggs and references will end up being isn’t so clear after Levy’s latest statement, though. It’s possible that in the end they are just an accessory to the story, which also works independently without much prior knowledge
