Even though Tony Stark aka Iron Man died in Avengers 4: Endgame in 2019, a return of the popular character to the MCU is still being actively discussed. So Games Radar spoke to Joe Russo and Anthony Russo at the Sands: International Film Festival about the hot rumors surrounding Iron Man’s return to the MCU. In addition to the second Captain America film, the pair have also directed Infinity War and Endgame. They are very skeptical about an Iron Man return.
As Anthony Russo explains, he doesn’t think the project is feasible: “I don’t know how they would do it. I don’t know what the path would look like.” Joe Russo was no less confident: “We closed that book, so it would be their job to figure out how to reopen it. “
Although the two Avengers creators have little hope of Iron Man returning to the MCU, there is no definitive “no”.
