You can watch Quentin Tarantino’s latest movie on TV on Sunday and it almost got a sequel of sorts. But nothing will come of it now
Quentin Tarantino recently made a name for himself because he only wants to make one last, tenth film. This was to be The Movie Critic, in which at least one character from Once Upon a Time in … Hollywood would have appeared. However, this plan has since vanished into thin air, leaving chaos in its wake. But Tarantino’s latest work to date is available on Netflix
What’s Once Upon a Time in … Hollywood?
The 2019 Tarantino film revolves around actor Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt). The two struggle to make ends meet and fight for the recognition they believe Hollywood of 1969 owes them.
However, it’s not just a bunch of harmless hippies who are up to mischief in Los Angeles that year, but also the crazy “Family” around Charles Manson. And they have their sights set on the famous actress Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie), the wife of Roman Polanski. Coincidentally, she lives next door to Rick.
How Tarantino’s latest film is entangled with his last and heaps of chaos
Quentin Tarantino announced a long time ago that he only wanted to make ten films (he counts Kill Bill Volumes 1 and 2 together). The last one would almost have been The Movie Critic, set in California in 1977 and revolving around the titular critic. But over time, the film probably developed into a kind of spin-off of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and Brad Pitt’s character was also scheduled to return.
Tarantino is said to have rewritten the script several times and ultimately scrapped The Movie Critic altogether. He is now starting all over again with a completely new film, which is to be his crowning farewell and conclusion. We probably won’t be seeing Cliff Booth on the big screen again
