Jar Jar Binks is officially returning to the Star Wars universe – as a villain!

by Mike

A four-part Star Wars special is set to shake up the galaxy far, far away: dark becomes light, evil becomes good. And Jar Jar Binks becomes a villain

No story can avoid the big “What if?”, not even the Star Wars story. A four-part special on Disney+ will soon reassemble the proverbial building blocks of the distant lightsaber galaxy: In LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, the universe is turned upside down. Including a Sith version of Jar Jar Binks

Watch the trailer for LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy here:

Star Wars makes Jar Jar Binks the bad guy and there’s more to it than you think

Rebuild the Galaxy revolves around average citizen Sig Greebling (original voice: Gaten Matarazzo), who discovers a unique artifact in a Jedi temple. Once unveiled, it turns the galaxy upside down: Ewoks work as bounty hunters, TIE fighters and X-wings merge, and Darth Jar Jar is out to get the protagonists.

Ahmed Best, who also voiced the character in the prequel trilogy, returns in the English voice role of the controversial character. His return is also a vote of confidence in Star Wars and its fans, with whom Best has not always had an easy time.

Much like other Lego Star Wars adventures, Jar Jar’s darker version will probably not be part of the canon. Nevertheless, its appearance is a clear gift to the fans. There has long been a theory in the community that the supposedly guileless Gungan is a Sith Lord on the dark side of the Force and is making common cause with Senator Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid). The main reason for the idea is primarily his extreme clumsiness, as Screen Rant explains.
