The hit series Shogun was actually supposed to be a self-contained mini-series. Now the adventure epic is not only to be extended by one season, but two.
With Shogun, an adventure epic was released on Disney+ this year that scored highly with its captivating intrigue and powerful imagery. With an average score of 8.2 out of 10 from the Moviepilot community, the series is sure to be one of the best of the year at the end of 2024.

Really strong adventure epic at Disney+: Shogun is to get 2 more seasons
As the Hollywood Reporter reports, FX and Hulu are working on two more Shogun seasons. Most recently, it was reported that lead actor Hiroyuki Sanada has signed a deal for a sequel.
The first season of Shogun is based on the 1975 novel of the same name by James Clavell and the entire story of the book has been adapted. A team of writers now has to come up with fresh storylines for the planned further seasons. If they can come up with enough ideas, there will be two more seasons. However, they have not yet been officially ordered and are therefore not yet guaranteed

When does the 2nd season of Shogun start on Disney+
There is no start date for the new Shogun episodes yet. As work on it is only just beginning, a 2nd season of the adventure epic is unlikely to be released before 2026.
