Liam Hemsworth replaces Henry Cavill in the Netflix fantasy series The Witcher. After a leaked photo, the first moving images with the new Geralt are now available

The dark fantasy saga The Witcher is getting a 4th and 5th season on Netflix. However, the two final chapters of the series will have to prove themselves to the audience once again, because as we have long known, fan favorite Henry Cavill will be replaced by replacement Geralt Liam Hemsworth from the upcoming season.

The new Geralt of Riva has so far only been seen in a leaked image from the filming of Season 4. That’s all changed now, as Netflix recently conjured up a first teaser video featuring the new Witcher actor:

Fan reactions to Liam Hemsworth as fantasy star on Netflix are divided

Looking at the comments under the video with Hemsworth, some vow not to continue watching without Cavill. Others point out how similar they could style him to his predecessor or want to wait until they see the sequel in action to make a judgment.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly about the appearance of Geralt 2.0, they said:

His look has been in development for over a year, which is why it’s exciting to finally share a first look at Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Riva. Cast and crew were impressed with the passion, energy and embodiment Liam brought to the character from day one – wild beard, iconic scar and all! We’re having so much fun filming season 4 and are excited to welcome fans on this journey.

Laurence Fishburne (Matrix, Hannibal) joins the cast as Regis, who fans of Andrzej Sapkowski’s novel will recognize from the book Baptism of Fire.

Freya Allan as Ciri and Anya Chalotra as Yennefer can also be expected to return

When is The Witcher season 4 coming to Netflix?
