MI6 spy Orson Fortune (Jason Statham) is actually enjoying his vacation when Nathan Jasmine (Cary Elwes) calls him on his next assignment. The theft of a weapon technology unknown even to the secret service requires the best agent. Fortune not only gets a team of specialists Sarah Fidel (Aubrey Plaza) and J.J. (Bugzy Malone) to help him, but also recruits Hollywood star Danny Francesco (Josh Hartnett).

With Francesco’s help, they gain access to billionaire gangster Greg Simmonds (Hugh Grant), who is a big fan of the actor. Simmonds is supposed to lead them to the stolen technology. But a second team is also on the hunt for Simmonds.
Operation Fortune is more straightforward than other Guy Ritchie films
In addition to a large ensemble, Guy Ritchie’s style also includes complicated plans and lots of parallel storylines. Whether it’s Jack, Queen, King, Grass, Snatch or Revolver, Guy Ritchie’s films have their own charm. Although Ritchie has also made big franchise films such as Sherlock Holmes and Aladdin, he has always returned to his own stylistic elements.
Nevertheless, Operation Fortune is less of a classic Ritchie than, for example, The Gentlemen was. After all, he focused more on agent films than on the gangster milieu. And he also held back when it came to the complexity of the movie. Although there are characters with different goals, the storylines are more closely interlinked than in other films by the director.
