Talk has been swirling for years that the gangster series Peaky Blinders would be followed up with a movie. Now Netflix has finally given the green light and revealed the first image.
Two years ago, the finale of the acclaimed gangster series Peaky Blinders – Gangs of Birmingham aired. But was that really the end of the story? For six seasons, the saga of the Shelby family accompanied us on our screens at home. But fans were sure: there must be more to come.
And that’s exactly the case now. For some time now, Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight has been talking about a possible sequel in the form of a feature-length film. However, it was unclear for a long time whether the project would actually be made. Now Netflix has officially given the green light to the as yet untitled Peaky Blinders film.
The highly anticipated Peaky Blinders movie is coming to Netflix and Cillian Murphy is returning as Thomas Shelby
As the Hollywood Reporter reports, the film is set to follow on from the end of the series, which aired on the BBC from 2013 to 2022 and was later made even more popular by its international release on Netflix. Specific details about the plot are not known. However, the three most important personalities have been confirmed
Tommy Shelby returns. A Peaky Blinders movie starring Cillian Murphy is coming to Netflix.

As the first image from the production reveals, we can look forward to the return of three Peaky Blinders veterans:
Cillian Murphy returns in front of the camera as Thomas Shelby
Steven Knight has written the screenplay for the Peaky Blinders film
Tom Harper, one of the first directors of the series, is directing the film
Back in March, there was a hint that Murphy would be returning to crime-ridden Birmingham to steer the fortunes of the Shelby family. Now he himself has made a statement about his Peaky Blinders return:
‘It seems Tommy Shelby isn’t finished with me yet … It’s very pleasing to be working with Steven Knight and Tom Harper again on the movie version of Peaky Blinders. [This movie] is for the fans.
Murphy is fresh from his big Oscar success Oppenheimer and can soon be seen in the late horror sequel 28 Years Later. He also wowed audiences at the Berlinale earlier this year in Small Things Like These. The drama tells the abysmal story of the Magdalene asylums in Ireland, which were correction or reformatories for young women.
