Director Doug Liman is regarded as a true action master and has already given us some real hits of the genre with Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Road House and The Bourne Identity. In the latter, the filmmaker worked with Matt Damon for the first time, whom he directed again 22 years later.
The heist thriller The Instigators brings the duo back together for Apple TV+ – and promises explosive and comedic action once again in the first trailer.

In The Instigators, Matt Damon plays Rory, an aging father who teams up with ex-criminal Cobby (Casey Affleck) to steal the funds of a corrupt politician. However, when their plan goes badly wrong, the two not only have to flee from the police, but also from a whole host of figures from the political and criminal underworld. They receive unexpected support from Rory’s therapist (Hong Chau).
Other roles include Jack Harlow (White Men Can’t Jump), Ron Perlman (The City of Lost Children), Alfred Molina (Three Pines) and Paul Walter Hauser (The Richard Jewell Case). Casey Affleck is responsible for the screenplay together with Chuck MacLean (City on a Hill).
