While she had her breakthrough on Game of Thrones, Emilia Clarke remained true to her great love, the theater – but one stage outing went horribly wrong.
With Game of Thrones, Emilia Clarke became a worldwide celebrity. As Daenerys Targaryen, she fought for the iron throne in Westeros. In addition to the series, she also has a great passion for the theater stage. No wonder, after all, her father was already a sound engineer at the theater and shared this love with her. However, a trip to the theater during Game of Thrones turned into a complete disaster
During Game of Thrones, Emilia Clarke had to put up with scathing reviews at the theater
Before her breakthrough with Game of Thrones, the British actress played in various plays. And even during the series, she remained faithful to the stage – but without any real success. She was probably hardest hit for her role as the legendary Holly Golightly, which she played in 2013:

Two years after the start of the series, Clarke was seen in the stage adaptation of Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The criticism of the adaptation was also negative at Variety. She played the lead role too calculated and could not even come close to Audrey Hepburn’s film version:
But while Clarke is physically seductive, her mannered Holly is more calculating than charismatic.
Mark Kennedy of the Associated Press didn’t leave a good hair on Clarke’s head, summed up The Wrap at the time:
Clarke tries really hard, but she tends to overact and sometimes models her accent on the wrong Hepburn – Katharine, not Audrey.
At least the critics liked the cat, they say. The play itself didn’t come off well either, and not just Emilia Clarke
