Nathan (Nicolas Cage) and Theresa Gardner (Joely Richardson) finally want to escape their old life and perhaps also the problems from that time. So they buy an old farm in New England to start afresh with their two children. Even alpacas are part of the new life plan.
But no sooner have they begun to enjoy the idyll out here than it is violently disrupted: a meteorite hits the garden. It soon becomes clear that the thing from outer space is no ordinary piece of rock. Its color is absolutely extraordinary, it glows – and dissolves unexpectedly.
