You can now stream the third part of the Fantastic Beasts series with a Netflix subscription. Another film in the Harry Potter spin-offs will probably not be coming, even if it was once planned
After the grand finale of the Harry Potter film series, the fantasy franchise continued with the Fantastic Beasts films. The series about magizoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) made it to three parts by 2022.
The last one so far, Fantastic Beasts: Dumbledore’s Secrets, is now available to stream with a Netflix subscription. It looks like there won’t be another Fantastic Beasts film, although the plan was once much bigger

In Fantastic Beasts: Dumbledore’s Secrets, the rise of evil wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Mads Mikkelsen) takes on increasingly drastic proportions. With international elections in the wizarding world looming, Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) needs the help of Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) & Co.

The future of the fantasy series doesn’t look good
At the very beginning, the Fantastic Beasts series was planned for five films. After the second installment, Fantastic Beasts: Grindelwald’s Crimes fell short of expectations financially, Part 3 set negative records at the box office. With a budget of 200 million dollars, the David Yates blockbuster grossed just over 407 million dollars worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo. This is clearly too little for a fantasy film of this size.
According to Variety, Yates last said in October 2023 that the spin-off series had been paused by studio Warner Bros. for the time being. At the moment, it doesn’t look as if parts 4 and 5 of the Fantastic Beasts series are still to come.
The next step for those responsible is a reboot of the fantasy cult in the form of a new Harry Potter series. This is due to start in the USA sometime in 2026 and will adapt all of J.K. Rowling’s novels with a new cast.
