With an Amazon subscription, you can now stream a sci-fi film about an astronaut stranded on the moon. It’s not just exciting for fans of The Martian with Matt Damon
The premise of the South Korean sci-fi adventure The Moon sounds like a mixture of The Martian and Apollo 13. From July 21, 2024, Amazon Astornauts with a Prime subscription can check whether the film from 2023 delivers what it promises.

The Moon on Amazon Prime Video: A sci-fi adventure on the moon
We are in the near future: After South Korea’s first manned moon mission ended in an explosive tragedy, five years later they set out to send their second compatriot into space. But the nation that conquers the world with K-Pop is unfortunately not granted any off-planet luck, as a solar wind causes another malfunction that leaves astronaut Hwang Sun-woo (Kyung-soo Do) stranded on the moon.

Members of the Naro Space Center (which also exists in reality) south of Seoul contact their former director Kim Jae-guk (Kyung-gu Sol) in the face of another catastrophe in the cosmos in order to perhaps help the astronaut fighting for his life out of trouble after all.

Director Yong-hwa Kim previously made the South Korean fantasy adventure Along With the Gods: The Two Worlds and its sequel Along with the Gods: The Last 49 Days. The films are based on Korean myths and are to be continued by Kim thanks to their great success at the domestic box office.
His sci-fi adventure The Moon was less well received by Western critics, judging by its mediocre Rotten Tomatoes rating of just 33 percent. The audience score of 86 percent is more respectable.
