Just on Netflix: This is the story of Babylon

Chazelle’s film delves into Los Angeles in the late 1920s and early 1930s, when Hollywood was characterized by excessive parties full of sex and drugs. While star actor Jack Conrad (Brad Pitt) has long since immersed himself in this lifestyle, newcomer Nellie LaRoy (Margot Robbie) emulates it. Standing between them is Manny Torres (Diego Calva), the son of Mexican immigrants who also dreams of a place in the glamorous industry.

From the end of the silent film era to the talkies, Babylon spirals downwards through a ravishing cesspool of sin. In the end, after ruined existences and shattered dreams, the director nevertheless looks to the future with euphoria.
