Villain Sauron is just around the corner on Amazon Prime * and this time he lets us take part in his manipulations to subjugate the fantasy realm in season 2 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. The first teaser was released three months ago, the big Comic-Con trailer for season 2 almost three weeks ago. New trailer for The Lord of the Rings series takes us into battle with the Rings of Power

Everything we know about season 2 of the Lord of the Rings series suggests that Amazon will be cranking up the tension in the new episodes. After all, villain Sauron (Charlie Vickers) is now officially in charge and still has a lot of forging to do if he wants to declare Middle-earth his domain.

What is already certain is that the rings of power that give the film its title will actually be used this time. After the three Elven rings were forged in the very last episode of season 1, the pointy-ears around Galadriel, Elrond and King Gil-galad must now decide whether and how they want to use these untested instruments of power against their opponents.

Meanwhile, Sauron continues to scheme diligently to persuade blacksmith Celebrimbor, in a new blond guise and with a new name (Annatar), to produce another 7 dwarven and 9 human rings. The huge battle in Eregion is unavoidable and at the end the trailer already shows: We get a duel between Sauron and Galadriel.

In season 2, harpfoot girl Nori accompanies her (as yet) nameless wizard friend to Tom Bombadil in the East, a father-son conflict simmers in the dwarf kingdom of Khazad-dûm and the Southlanders have to look for a new home after the creation of the Ashland of Mordor, while Elven hatred spreads on the island of Númenor.

Fantasy fans can also rejoice that a Harry Potter star has defected to the Lord of the Rings series. As Rings of Power Era recently found out, Jim Broadbent (aka Professor Slughorn) voices the Ent “Snaggleroot” and also has a lost Ent-woman named “Winterblossom” at his side in Olivia Williams (The Crown).
