An adventure film for the whole family that is part of a franchise now worth billions has just landed in the top 10 of the Netflix charts

Since 2000, the animated series Dora (also known as Dora the Explorer in the original) has won the hearts of a very young audience in particular. In the meantime, the popular franchise about the seven-year-old adventurer has become a billion-dollar brand. This also includes the 2019 real-life film Dora and the Golden City, which has just been added to Netflix and has already made it into the film top 10

Currently in the Netflix charts: This is what Dora and the Golden City is about

In the story of the live-action film, teenage Dora (Isabela Merced) has to put her thirst for adventure on the back burner because her parents (Eva Longoria and Michael Peña) want to send her to school in the big city. Together with the monkey Boots (voiced in the original by Danny Trejo), her cousin Diego (Jeff Wahlberg) and other friends, she soon has to save her mother and father from dangers in the jungle and solve the mystery of an ancient Inca civilization.

The review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes gives Dora and the Golden City a strong average of 85 percent. In his text for the British daily newspaper The Telegraph Robbie Collin wrote in 2019, among other things:

‘It could be that there’s no more pleasant surprise at the movies this year – really! – than this live-action adaptation of Dora the Explorer, the long-running Nickelodeon cartoon. Sweet, exciting, silly and featuring an elaborate poop joke that’s actually earned, Dora and the Golden City feels tailor-made for summer vacation.
