A Marvel blockbuster was poorly received by critics, audiences and leading actors. A Netflix series took on the franchise. The movie is available on Amazon Prime.

Marvel has not always been a billion-dollar success at the box office. The superhero smash hit Daredevil about the blind savior in a smart leather outfit was met with little enthusiasm from critics and audiences alike. Lead actor Ben Affleck hated it like the plague. Netflix revived the character with the unusual Marvel’s Daredevil series. Amazon Prime has the film in its program

On Amazon Prime: Netflix turned the Marvel flop Daredevil into a unique series

The story of the Marvel pioneer sounds really exciting. The martial arts superhero Matt Murdock/Daredevil, who has been blinded in an accident, gets in the way of a professional killer (Colin Farrell) during an assassination attempt. He and his boss Kingpin (Michael Clarke Duncan) are hot on his heels from then on. And Elektra (Jennifer Garner), the daughter of the assassination victim, also holds the hero responsible for her father’s death.

At the time of its release, many critics criticized the film for its lack of innovation (via Rotten Tomatoes ). The New York Times&nbspcalled it “cheap and superfluous”. It flopped at the box office (via Boxofficemojo). But that’s nothing compared to Ben Affleck’s disappointment.

He told Playboy:

‘The only movie I really regret is Daredevil. It kills me. I love that story, that character, and the fact that it was screwed up like that just keeps me going. Maybe that was part of the motivation to play Batman.

Daredevil was reborn in a double way

The Daredevil chapter seemed to be buried. But Netflix took on the fallen Marvel hero twelve years later. In its own series, the streamer crafted an innovative and unusual hard-hitting story around its main character (Charlie Cox). Although the series was discontinued three years later, it rehabilitated its prestigious hero. On Disney+, this version of the Marvel hero returns in 2025 in the new series Daredevil: Born Again.
