According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix has commissioned an adaptation of the 2020 vampire companion novel to the main series, Bite of the Midnight Sun* (original title: Midnight Sun). This is a retelling of the first novel Until Dawn, but not from Bella’s perspective, but that of vampire crush Edward Cullen.
Lionsgate Television is producing the series Midnight Sun with Sinead Daly (Raised by Wolves) as producer, who will be working with Myer, among others. The project has been firmly ordered, but is still at the very beginning of the creative process, which in the case of animation can take a very long time. It is therefore likely to take until next year or even the year after for the Twilight series to be released.
Another fantasy reboot with a template that was extremely popular in the 2000s is the upcoming Harry Potter series from HBO streamer Max. This will simply adapt the book series from the beginning and, if necessary, iron out a few blunders from the film series.
And when it comes to animated spin-offs of major genre franchises, Netflix has already made its mark. Just last month, for example, the anime series Terminator Zero was released.
