Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan has a new series project in the pipeline, for which there is now a trailer. Oscar winner Billy Bob Thornton and Jon Hamm do the oily honors in Landman
After numerous series from the Yellowstone cosmos, unbeaten dad TV tycoon Taylor Sheridan finally presents a project that has nothing to do with the Dutton family. Sure, it’s still about mumbling men in cowboy hats, but that’s just part of his unmistakable brand. Also in the oil business drama Landman, for which you can watch the first original trailer right here:
Landman by Yellowstone mastermind Taylor Sheridan takes us into the dirty oil business
Oscar winner Billy Bob Thornton (Goliath) leads Landman as Tommy Norris. The crisis manager of a major Texas oil company keeps the perversely lucrative business running, the enemies of the business at bay and seemingly acts as a sort of fixer for oil baron Monty Miller (Mad Men star Jon Hamm). Together with Monty’s wife Cami (Demi Moore), they experience the highs and lows of the dangerous business with the liquid black gold on which entire regions and business sectors depend.
The most amusing line in the Paramount+ preview makes it clear just how stressful the dirty job is. When a bartender asks Tommy if he would like something stronger to drink, he replies: “I’ve stopped drinking, I’ll stick to beer.”
The series Landman is based on the twelve-part podcast Boomtown from 2019, whose description reads: “In a rough corner of West Texas, wild billionaires and ruffians are fueling an oil boom so big it’s changing our climate, our economy and our geopolitics. This modern-day gold rush has prompted both big oil companies and small start-ups to get a piece of the action. “
