The new Dexter series starts this year. Now there’s a first teaser trailer that shows us the young version of the serial killer in motion. Get ready for a lot of disco!
One of the biggest series of the 2000s is back and even jumps back a decade further in time. After Michael C. Hall proved his skills as a TV series killer in Dexter and Dexter: New Blood, we can soon look forward to the start of a prequel series that takes us back to the 90s.
Dexter: Original Sin is the title of the spin-off, which introduces us to a young version of the murderous title character. Michael C. Hall only returns as the voice. Otherwise, 29-year-old Patrick Gibson takes on the iconic role of the killer. He was previously seen in series such as Shadow and Bone, Before We Die and The OA.

30 seconds. That’s all the teaser for the new Dexter series needs to establish the mood of the new series. Gone are the cold lumberjack days. In Original Sin, the 90s come to life with lots of disco music. But don’t let the driving beat fool you. Some gruesome things happen here too.
The plot of Dexter: Original Sin takes place 15 years before the events of the main series. Specifically, we find ourselves in Miami in 1991. Young Dexter Morgan leads an unremarkable student life and discovers a, well, problematic obsession that gradually costs more and more people their lives.
Dexter Morgan is not the only familiar character from the original to return in the prequel series. We also meet the young version of Dexter’s adoptive sister Debra. She is played by Molly Brown (Billions). Christian Slater (Mr. Robot) also joins the cast of the spin-off as Dexter’s father Harry.
