Chris Evans is best known as Captain America from the Marvel movies. A lesser-known drama with him has just entered the Netflix charts, and it’s one of his best films.
Chris Evans has been known to a wider audience since his role as Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Before that, he played his first superhero character as Johnny Storm in the Fantastic Four films of the 2000s.
But perhaps many fans have not even noticed the films that Evans has made outside the MCU in the last 10 years. One of them is the drama Gifted, which has been ranked third in the Netflix charts of the top 10 films for quite some time.

After the death of his sister, Frank Adler (Chris Evans) is supposed to raise his young niece Mary (Mckenna Grace). Her teacher Bonnie (Jenny Slate) at school realizes that Mary is a prodigy and has extraordinary mathematical abilities.
Frank’s mother Evelyn (Lindsay Duncan) wants to promote her granddaughter’s extraordinary talent, but Frank himself would rather keep Mary out of the spotlight and enable her to live an ordinary life. Eventually, a custody battle for the girl breaks out.

Gifted is considered one of the best Chris Evans movies.
With more than 1,200 ratings, the drama by The Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb has a strong average rating of 7.4 points in the Moviepilot community.
At the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, the rating average is similarly positive at 73 percent. In her review for Little White Lies, Elena Lazic writes, among other things:
The idea that childhood should not be suppressed for supposedly “greater” purposes is at the heart of the film. A generous portrayal of youth – unusual in American cinema, which either patronizes children or portrays them as little adults – comes in the form of Mckenna Grace’s Mary, who delivers one of the most likeable child characters in recent times.
Behind its superficial appearance as a boring, forgetful indie, Gifted proves to be unexpectedly realistic, moving and unpredictable until the very end.
