Last weekend, a ball based on the Netflix hit Bridgerton took place. Now disappointed fans are reporting an absolute horror story.
Earlier this year, a trip to Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory turned out to be a traumatizing experience for many children in the UK. Now it has hit the fans of the successful Netflix series Bridgerton, who traveled to Detroit, Michigan, to be part of a widely advertised ball event.
What at first glance sounds like the perfect way to shorten the wait for season 4 is now making headlines for all the wrong reasons. Apparently, the Detroit Bridgerton Themed Ball was a huge disappointment for fans of the series. Some are even calling the event a scam.
“It was absolutely awful”: Bridgerton fans experience their own version of the Wonka Glasgow trauma
The Hollywood Reporter summarizes various reports on the failed event and illustrates the whole thing with social media posts that paint a picture of the bleak situation on the ground. The most prominent thread on Twitter starts directly with a snapshot that shows anything but a magnificent ball in a Bridgerton setting.

Fans were promised an evening of fine dining and classical music. What they got… nothing. Or at least nothing of what they had in mind. After just an hour, the food was said to have been exhausted, while a lone violinist tried to bring the Regency era to life.

And in case you were wondering what the ball looked like: Well, see for yourself in these shots from an unforgettable evening.

Or as one of the fan comments quoted by the Hollywood Reporter sums it up:
“My family and I just left the Detroit Bridgerton Ball. It was absolutely awful. There was nowhere to sit. Although the venue was nice, the decor was sparse and extremely tacky. You couldn’t even tell the theme was Bridgerton! We spent $400 on tickets for what was an absolutely awful experience!”
