While we eagerly await the second season of Maxton Hall on Amazon Prime, the next series with Damian Hardung in the leading role is already starting. And it definitely sounds promising.
Damian Hardung is currently one of the most sought-after stars in the local film and series landscape. This is due to the streaming hit Maxton Hall – The World Between Us, which launched on Amazon Prime in May and became a mega-hit not only in Germany. The production of season 2 is in full swing.
Unfortunately, it is not yet known when the story of Maxton Hall will continue. But there is a new series with Hardung in the leading role, which you can now stream completely and for free (!), Love Sucks. It is an exciting genre mix that tells a love story with fantasy and horror elements.
Even before the start of Maxton Hall Season 2, Damian Hardung has to realize: Love Sucks
Love Sucks is about the young boxer Zelda (Havana Joy), who one day runs into the mysterious Ben (Damian Hardung) and falls in love with him. However, it quickly turns out that the families of the two don’t get along at all. That’s because Zelda’s parents hunt vampires – and Ben is just that.
Here you can watch the trailer for Love Sucks:
What reminds us of Maxton Hall here, of course, is the love story at the center of the series. But there is much more to it than that. Is it the gory version of Romeo and Juliet? The German update of the Twilight hype? Or an echo of dark vampire films like Near Dark and The Lost Boys? Love Sucks combines many exciting genre influences.
The series was created by Marc O. Seng, who wrote the screenplay for the superhero film Freaks – Du bist eine von uns. Prior to that, he was involved in all three seasons of the Netflix hit Dark – the series that has become the international figurehead of good genre fare made in Germany in recent years.
He wrote Love Sucks with Julia Penner (Druck) and Thorsten Wettcke (Tatort). Andreas Prochaska (Das finstere Tal) and Lea Becker (Kitz) took on the staging. The directing team gives the series a look that is “mystically seductive, romantic and sexy, but also dark and hard,” as stated in the press kit.
