Netflix has released the first images of Keira Knightley and Ben Whishaw from Black Doves. They will be on a secret mission in the thriller series from the end of 2024.
It really doesn’t happen every day: Black Doves is a British thriller and espionage series from Netflix that was renewed for a second season long before the series started. But only now, several weeks after the renewal, are we getting to see the first images from the format. They mainly show the two stars: Keira Knightley (Pirates of the Caribbean) and Ben Whishaw (Q from James Bond), who, by the way, celebrates his birthday today (October 14) and has turned 44.

The spy Helen Webb (Knightley) has a dangerous job that she does alongside her existence as a wife and mother: she passes on the secrets of her husband, who works in politics, to her organization called Black Doves. This went well for ten years. But when her secret lover (Andrew Koji) is murdered, Helen’s spy boss Reed (Sarah Lancashire) intervenes and assigns the fallen hitman Sam (Whishaw) to her. On a secret mission in London, the two of them then uncover a far-reaching conspiracy.
How it can be that the series by Joe Barton (The Lazarus Project) received so much advance praise from Netflix long before it even started can only be guessed at from December 5, 2024, when the first season of Black Doves goes online. And if there is a cliffhanger at the end of it, you won’t have to worry that the streamer will cancel the series prematurely and it won’t continue.
