After Cheating on Love: Stream two films with the same theme on Netflix

by Mike

Cheating on Love is currently one of the most popular series on Netflix. Season 2 will probably not happen. But two touching to funny alternatives are waiting for you on the streaming service.
Netflix has discovered the age gap discourse. At least that’s the impression we get when we look at the streaming service’s new releases in recent months. There are three popular projects, one series and two films that tell a love story with a large age gap.

The latest series is the Italian romantic drama Love Is Deceitful, which premiered in the second week of October and has since topped the top 10 most popular non-English-language series on Netflix. It tells the story of 60-year-old Gabriella, who falls in love with the much younger Elia.

However, after six episodes it is already over: Deceitful Love is a miniseries, which means that despite its success, we should not get our hopes up for a season 2. If you are still looking for more stories like this, we have put together two Netflix tips for you below.

Deceitful Love-Substitute No. 1 on Netflix: A Family Affair

Less dramatic, but with a cast of big Hollywood stars, A Family Affair was released on Netflix in June this year. The romantic comedy revolves around 24-year-old Zara Ford (Joey King), who works as an assistant to up-and-coming actor Chris Cole (Zac Efron), who falls in love with her mother Brooke (Nicole Kidman).

Just like in The Replacement, the relationship turns the lives of the people involved upside down and puts social conventions to the test. However, the tone is not all that serious. A Family Affair focuses more on the comedic aspects of the premise and features plenty of slapstick humor.

An age-gap love story and a holiday movie in one? Lonely Planet: Love in Morocco is the perfect choice for you. Shortly after Deceitful Love, Netflix released the romantic film starring Laura Dern and Liam Hemsworth. Dern plays a successful writer, while Hemsworth plays a young financial manager.

Katherine Lowe has just separated from her husband. In Marrakech, she tries to clear her head and finally overcome the annoying writer’s block that is preventing her from finishing her next novel. As soon as she meets young Owen Brophy, who is actually accompanying another young author, she feels inspired again.

Even more new love stories with an age gap

It’s not just Netflix that has been diving into love stories in recent months, with characters of different ages meeting. Amazon * also had a prominent original with a similar concept this year: the romcom When You See Me, starring Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine.

If we go back even further, we find the theatrical release of Last Summer at the beginning of the year, starring Léa Drucker and Samuel Kircher. The Berlin International Film Festival also featured the tragicomedy Between the Temples, in which Jason Schwartzman and Carol Kane encounter each other in a whirlwind of emotions.

Last Summer is now also available in physical form for home theater. There is no regular release date for Between the Temples in this country yet. You can stream A Family Affair on Amazon Prime Video with a subscription. A Fraudulent Love, Lonely Planet and Love, Victor are available in the Netflix streaming flat rate.
