Dwayne Johson admits to peeing in water bottles on the Red One set – but denies an even more serious accusation

Dwayne Johnson responds to the rumors about his behavior on the set of the action movie Red One ‒ and even confirms one accusation.

The fact that Dwayne Johnson pees in water bottles more often than not when he’s training than he does to take the long way to the bathroom is something the actor has already admitted himself once before in 2021. However, in April of this year, he was accused of engaging in this behavior on film sets in a comprehensive report by The Wrap, in which insiders talked about Johnson’s antics on the set of the Christmas action movie Red One.

However, it was not only about the actor’s quick relief, but above all about regular and drastic unpunctuality on the set, which allegedly caused the budget to grow to 250 million US dollars. In an interview with GQ, The Rock now clears up the rumors and receives backing from co-star Chris Evans and director Jake Kasdan.

Dwayne Johnson has peed in water bottles ‒ but is more punctual than the allegations claim

When asked whether Johnson actually pees in water bottles from time to time to save time on set, the Red One star gave GQ an honest answer:

Yes, that happens sometimes… I’ve said it a thousand times: ‘Hey, I’m here. Come and ask me. I’ll tell you the truth.’
However, Johnson does not let the accusations of his immense unpunctuality sit with him so easily in the interview. He describes the information that he was even seven to eight hours late for work on some days as “bullsh*t”:

Yes, it happens sometimes [that I’m late]. But not to that extent, by the way. That was a totally exaggerated statement. It’s crazy. Ridiculous.

Red One star Chris Evans defends Dwayne Johnson’s behavior on set

In the GQ report, Johnson is backed by Red One director Jake Kasdan, with whom The Rock has already worked three times. According to him, the actor was no more often late on set than other Hollywood stars:

[Dwayne] has never missed a day of work, ever. He has a lot on his plate. He might come in late sometimes, but that’s Hollywood – that’s everyone. Honestly, I’ve done three big movies with him. I’ve never seen him act any differently than great with every single person on set.
Red One co-star Chris Evans also has only good things to say about Johnson’s behavior on set. The Captain America star has experienced much worse in his career:

“Unlike some of the things I’ve seen in other movies and with other actors, who […] are unpredictable, I thought that with Dwayne, we always knew exactly what he was doing when he was doing it.”

Johnson’s workout plan occasionally straddles the line in the early hours of the morning on set, but everyone involved was prepared for that,

It’s something that the producers, the director and the whole crew know. It’s not like he’s unexpectedly late, and I wouldn’t even call it late. He comes a little later some mornings, but that’s part of the plan. It’s already built into everyone’s plan and everyone knows it, so he comes exactly when he’s supposed to come.

In addition, Evans reveals that Johnson was extremely generous to the entire crew on the Red One set and regularly distributed large sums of his salary:

There was maybe four or five thousand dollars in the pot or something, and before they drew the name, Dwayne was like, ‘How much is in the pot right now?’ And someone was like, ‘I don’t know, four thousand.’ And he was like, ‘Let’s make it 20 [thousand].’ And the name was drawn and whoever won went nuts. Dwayne was like, ‘You know what? Should we do another one? How about 30 this time?’ Everyone went nuts. And then he said, ‘You know what? How about more?’ And it was 50. On a Friday, Dwayne gave out almost $100,000, I think.
