The Rookie star Nathan Fillion was considered for the lead in Uncharted – but never got the role. In an interview, he revealed how he feels about it.

Nathan Fillion is currently celebrating success with the crime series The Rookie. In the cinema, however, he was denied the leading role in a successful franchise. For years, some fans thought he would be the ideal choice to play the video game blockbuster Uncharted. Why didn’t it work out?

Nathan Fillion really put himself out there for Uncharted

In fact, the actor himself had hoped to play the role of Nathan Drake in Uncharted. Fillion’s dream came true to some extent when he took on the role of Nathan Drake in a 15-minute fan film by filmmaker Allan Ungar in 2018.

Absurdly long development of Uncharted kept fans on tenterhooks

But it should turn out differently. Because from a first idea in the early 2010s to its final creation, it should take a full ten years before Uncharted was produced. Among others, David O. Russell, Neil Burger, Seth Gordon, Dan Trachtenberg and Travis Knight were in the running for the direction.

Ultimately, Ruben Fleischer, known for films like Venom or the Zombieland series, took over as director of Uncharted. The role of Nathan Drake was finally given to Tom Holland in 2019.
