A horror thriller in which people are hunted is currently storming to the top of the Netflix charts. The hard-hitting film was almost not released at the time.
From time to time, there are still films that trigger major social discussions due to their political explosiveness. The satirical horror thriller The Hunt is one of them. The Blumhouse production was supposed to be released in 2019, but then the release was overshadowed by real events. In the Netflix charts, the movie, in which a liberal elite goes on a manhunt, is currently ranked second in the top 10 films.
Violent manhunt on Netflix: That’s what The Hunt is about
At the beginning of the film by director Craig Zobel, twelve people wake up in a forest. They find various weapons, and suddenly they are shot at. The group is quickly decimated and Crystal (Betty Gilpin) becomes the resilient hunted.

The Hunt release was in jeopardy due to real-life tragedies
The horror thriller sparked discussions simply by its exaggerated portrayal of the conflict between Republicans and Democrats in the US. However, when the film was scheduled to be released in 2019, there were, according to Screen Rant, mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton around the release.
As a result, it was considered not to release the film, which is characterized by gun violence, at all. Eventually, the US release date was set for March 13, 2020. Due to the recently emerged coronavirus pandemic, The Hunt was also available as a VoD title from March 20, 2020. In this country, it was released on May 14, 2020.
