The Predator series continues next year with two movies. One of them features a major twist, as the deadly alien is turned into a hero!
With Prey, the Predator series pulled off a minor miracle in 2022. After the fourth film from 2018 (Upgrade) was a commercial and artistic disaster, director Dan Trachtenberg created a furious course correction in the franchise. In Prey, a Comanche warrior had to take on the iconic alien 300 years in the past.
The film’s success led to Trachtenberg being commissioned to direct another Predator film, and there is now an exciting update. In any case, a story like this has never been seen in the science fiction franchise.
New Predator film makes the deadly monster a hero
Compared to Empire, the director has now revealed that a Predator will play the leading role in the upcoming film:
The creature is the focus and leads the film. He’s still tough as nails, but there’s something there that’s emotionally touching. It was a challenge to create a character you feel connected to, but at the same time are very intimidated by.
Here you can watch the trailer for the Predator hit Prey again:
So, Predator: Badlands will be the first part of the series in which the titular creature becomes the hero. The film’s plot will once again be set in the future on an alien planet, as in Prey. In addition to the Predator as the main character, actress Elle Fanning (The Neon Demon) will play twin sisters in the new part.
