Bloody Tarantino dream gets a second part and the director promises a great spectacle: “As if I’d never make another movie again”

After the success of Eli Roth’s first Thanksgiving movie, the horror director is working on a sequel. Now he has revealed more detailed plans for it.

Last year, fans of the Grindhouse double feature by Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez had a dream come true. After Hostel director Eli Roth made Thanksgiving, one of the gory, macabre fake trailers for the grindhouse homage, his feature-length version was released 16 years later.

The long version of Thanksgiving was so successful in 2023 that Sony commissioned a second part. Now, on the occasion of this year’s Thanksgiving in the US, Roth has spoken in more detail about his plans for part 2.

Eli Roth wants horror sequel Thanksgiving 2 to fire on all cylinders on a modest budget

In a recent interview with IndieWire, Roth said that Thanksgiving 2 will again be shot on a modest budget:

We’re raising the stakes, but we’re not going to do it with more money. That keeps it tight and lean and mean and forces us to make choices. In the first part, we did a lot of set-up work that we don’t have to deal with now. It can just start right away.
Here’s a trailer for the first Thanksgiving again:

For Thanksgiving, the director wants to focus entirely on intense slasher set pieces, for which he wants to give his all:

I’ve come up with things that are going to be challenging. And I want it to be challenging to nail. Because if I come up with the stuff that I think is going to make for the best kills, then I’m going to do it like I’m never going to make another movie again.

So far, all that is known is that Nell Verlaque as Final Girl Jessica and Rick Hoffman in the role of her father Thomas Wright will return for Thanksgiving 2. However, anyone who has seen the first part already knows what kind of gruesomely wacky kills fans can look forward to again.
