Wednesday fans have something to look forward to, as production on the Netflix series has just taken a big step forward. These could be the consequences for the launch of season 2.
It’s been almost exactly two years since the first season of Wednesday launched on Netflix and took the streaming service by storm. Since then, fans of the Jenna Ortega series have been eagerly awaiting a second season. Now there’s reason to celebrate ‒ because Wednesday has just reached a huge milestone.
Wednesday season 2 has been shot for over 6 months
As What’s on Netflix reports, the second season of Wednesday is finally in the can. According to the report, the last take was only completed a few days ago, on November 29, 2024. This marks the end of more than six months of extensive filming in Ireland. The series crew started there in May 2024.
The news was revealed by a thank-you card that one of the crew members of Wednesday Season 2 publicly shared. Meanwhile, the image is only circulating in various Reddit forums. According to What’s on Netflix, the text on it announces:
To my fellow darklings: thank you for the many hours of blood, sweat, and ominous lighting that went into this production. If I had the capacity for human warmth, I might even say it was my pleasure. But let’s not get carried away. Sincerely, Wednesday Addams

What does the end of filming mean for the Netflix launch of Wednesday Season 2?
This now allows us to make initial predictions as to when Wednesday might return on Netflix. It helps to look at the production schedule for the first season. This reached us around eight months after filming for the season was completed. If post-production for season 2 is similar in scope, the new episodes on Netflix are not expected before July 2025.
However, a release in the middle of summer does not seem particularly appropriate for the basic mood of the series. It is therefore more likely that the release will be pushed back to late summer or fall. What’s on Netflix currently expects Wednesday Season 2 to start in early September 2025.
