After the free-TV premiere of Jurassic World 3, the question arises as to how the dinosaur series, once created by Steven Spielberg, will continue. Part 4 starts as early as next year.
When Jurassic World 3: A New Age hit theaters, the film was announced as the grand finale of the dinosaur series. All the main characters joined forces for one last adventure. However, this conclusion was not too final. Because another part was announced at the beginning of the year: Jurassic World 4: Rebirth.
The plot of Jurassic World 4 is already known – and Scarlett Johansson plays the leading role
We are not dealing with a direct sequel to Jurassic World 4. Rather, the film is to the Jurassic World trilogy what the Jurassic Park trilogy is to the series. This means that the continuity of the previous films is maintained, but the focus shifts to new characters who experience their own adventure in the dinosaur park.
Specifically, the plot of Jurassic World 4 picks up five years after the events of Part 3 and introduces us to Zora Bennett (Scarlett Johansson). The expert in top-secret operations is tasked with leading a group to secure valuable dinosaur DNA. Once again, the dinosaurs are facing extinction.
The reason for this is the Earth’s ecosystem, which has changed dramatically over the past millions of years. The primeval monsters had no chance of adapting naturally to the new conditions. Bennett and her team are tasked with securing as much genetic material as possible to create a miraculous cure.
Judging by the films in the series so far, it shouldn’t take long for powerful parties to emerge from the background who are primarily concerned with one thing: profit. Not least because Jurassic World 4 was written by David Koepp, who was also responsible for the screenplays of the first two Jurassic Park films.
Steven Spielberg, however, will not be returning to the director’s chair. He is currently working on a new sci-fi film, also based on a script by Koepp, which will be released in 2026. None of the other Jurassic Park directors to date (Joe Johnston, Colin Trevorrow and J.A. Bayona) are involved in part 4 either.
