After a year and a half break, Amazon’s fantasy series The Wheel of Time returns. The trailer promises lots of magic and an epic (and deadly) finale.
Amazon’s fantasy flagship The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has completed season 2 and is preparing for season 3 in the distant future. Another series, which also takes place in an elaborate fantasy world based on a novel, has now announced its imminent return to Prime Video *: in the first teaser trailer for the final season of The Wheel of Time.
The Wheel of Time: First trailer for the last season promises a grand fantasy finale
In the adaptation of Robert Jordan’s epic novel * The Wheel of Time, a chosen one, the “reborn dragon”, is supposed to save the world… or plunge it into disaster. In season 1 of the fantasy series, the magician Moiraine (Rosamund Pike) therefore went in search of several candidates. Season 2 finally revealed the mighty dragon to the world, which brings us to season 3:

What is season 3 about? (Spoiler alert for season 2) After Moiraine regained her magic in season 2 and Rand al’Thor (Josha Stradowski) grew into his role as the Chosen One, the final battle against the big villain, the “Dark King”, is yet to come. But as the trailer reveals, this goal can only be achieved in two ways in the visions of the Aes Sedai: if Rand or Moiraine dies. So can we expect a great sacrifice in Amazon’s fantasy finale?
In season 2, many spoke of a leap in quality of the fantasy series. Season 3 presents itself as a series finale, although a total of 14 volumes exist, which were often divided into several books in the first German translation. This time, showrunner Rafe Judkins adapts the fourth book (The Shadow Rises) as well as elements of the fifth novel (The Fires of Heaven).
