Horror-Thriller on Disney+: This is what Black Swan is about
In the film’s story, Natalie Portman plays the ambitious ballet dancer Nina from New York, who is chosen by director Thomas Leroy (Vincent Cassel) for the lead role in the famous Swan Lake. Suddenly, she is pushed aside by her rival Lily (Mila Kunis), which spurs her on to ever more extreme feats of performance. This drives Nina more and more into a self-destructive frenzy, which leads to some truly disgusting scenes.

Black Swan shooting was a nightmare for Natalie Portman
The realization of the very physical, sometimes painful scenes demanded everything from the star at the time. According to HuffPost, Portman told Entertainment Weekly:
There were some nights when I thought I was literally going to die. It was the first time I understood how you can get so wrapped up in a role that it can kind of drag you down.
Torn toenails, calluses on her feet and a dislocated rib were some of the injuries the actress suffered during the filming of Black Swan. The ordeal paid off nonetheless, as Portman won Best Actress at the 2011 Academy Awards.
