Tougher than The Boys: Amazon’s violent superhero series is set to get 8 (!) seasons

by Tommy

Amazon’s most brutal superhero series outshines even The Boys. The creator plans to tell the story in up to eight seasons.

On Amazon, superheroes are one thing above all: bloodthirsty. This is proven not only by the Supes from The Boys, but also by the protagonists from Invincible. The animated series about the adventures of a supernaturally gifted teenager draws on an incomparable level of violence. Invincible will reach its grand conclusion with season 8, if creator Robert Kirkman has his way.

The Boys rival Invincible is to get 5 more seasons

Kirkman created the Invincible comic, which he is adapting with the Amazon series. He told Polygon:

“Seven to eight seasons seems like enough to me. We might tighten up some topics a bit, but we could expand on others. If we’re lucky enough to be allowed to produce for a long time, that would be enough for the comic. Also, I’d like to tell a few stories that didn’t make it into the comic.”

It is his stated goal to incorporate completely new stories into the Invincible series without any templates, says Kirkman. However, he also admits that the total number of seasons is a “moving target” to which he cannot assign an unchangeable number. In other words, whether the showrunner gets his way depends on the success of the series. And, of course, on how Kirkman’s vision changes.

When is Invincible season 3 coming to Amazon Prime Video?

According to all predictions, however, an end to the Amazon series is still a long way off. Season 3 of Invincible will be released on Prime Video from February 6, 2024. Three episodes will be released on the launch date, with another scheduled to follow weekly. Season 4 has already been confirmed.

Invincible revolves around the young superhero Mark (original voice: Steven Yeun), who grows up as the son of the all-powerful Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons). As his own abilities develop, he learns a harrowing truth that completely changes his world view.
