Netflix wants to continue to scare millions of fans in the future. The streaming service’s largest and best-rated horror series is therefore to receive three new sequels.
How much can go wrong in a small American town? Quite a lot, if Netflix has its way. At least that’s how it looks with the horror series of Fear Street films, which so far have shed light on the bloody murders in the small town of Shadyside in three eras. In addition to the fourth film, Fear Street 4: Prom Queen, three more shockers are now being developed.
Netflix’s horror universe has over 50 books and 100 spin-offs
So far, Netflix has released 3 Fear Street movies:
Fear Street – Part 1: 1994
Fear Street – Part 2: 1978
Fear Street – Part 3: 1666
They are all based on the successful and popular book series by author R.L. Stine, but without being tied to any of the more than 50 main works and 100 spin-offs. Stine has now told the Hollywood Reporter that three more films are in the works: “The screenwriters are working on it. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.”

It is not known how these parts will follow on from the four previous films. Nor has Stine revealed a release date, a specific title or a template.
Since the release of the three previous films starting in 2021, Fear Street has been considered Netflix’s best original horror series, as reflected in a Rotten Tomatoes list, among others. Fred Hechinger (The White Lotus), Emily Rudd (One Piece) and Gillian Jacobs (Community), among others, can be seen in front of the camera.
