In a recent extensive interview with Men’s Health, Tom Holland was asked about his favorite movie. The Spider-Man star answered confidently: “I’m not ashamed to say that it’s Avatar.”
James Cameron’s Avatar went down in film history for several reasons when it was released in 2009. With a box office gross of 2.9 billion (!) US dollars, the sci-fi blockbuster still holds the title as the most commercially successful film of all time. At the same time, it was celebrated for its groundbreaking 3D technology, which captivated audiences around the world. Tom Holland was just 13 years old when Avatar was released.

The Avatar series is far from over
In 2022, Avatar 2: The Way of Water was released after a full 13 years. It is the second part of Cameron’s blockbuster series, which is expected to include at least three more films in the years to come. Avatar 3: Fire and Ash will again be released in theaters in time for the Christmas season on December 17, 2025. Part 4 is scheduled to follow in 2029, with Part 5 to follow in 2031 according to current plans.
