On Amazon Prime, you can stream three great animated films that should delight both toddlers and their parents. Look forward to a family movie marathon in a class of its own.

Agreeing on a movie is sometimes not that easy for a family of several people. On Amazon Prime, however, we have two movies in a double pack that are almost considered classics of family movie entertainment. Some subtle tones will only be understood by adults, but all age groups will enjoy them. Both films have an age rating of 0 years and up.

Madagascar on Amazon Prime: A modern family film classic

This is what it’s about: A lion, a zebra, a giraffe and a hippopotamus escape from the New York Zoo in Madagascar in 2005 to live in freedom. But without the help of the little professionals, the penguins, they won’t get far. The only creatures as cool and clumsy as the penguins are the lemurs, with their king Julien. They are real party animals in the jungle and an absolute highlight of the movie. However, our zoo animals are not prepared for these peculiarities and the dangers of the wild and have to see how they get along outside of their regular zoo hours.

Madagascar has spawned a huge franchise over the last 19 years, with numerous sequels and spin-offs, as well as the rather funny animated series The Penguins of Madagascar, which is also available on Amazon Prime in the flat rate. The first movie in the series is almost two decades old, but it’s still worth watching today.

Despicable Me on Amazon Prime: starting point for the Minions

This is what it’s about: Super villain Gru wants to carry out a wicked plan: he wants to steal the moon. But when he adopts three orphan girls, Margo, Edith and Agnes, his life changes. The initially selfish Gru develops a sense of family and fatherhood. But he is not the only super villain and so, with the help of his Minions, he must soon defend himself against his adversary Vector, who also has his sights set on the moon.

Few animated films have managed this century what Despicable Me has achieved since its release in 2010. Not only merchandise products, but also memes and video games have appeared in the shortest possible time. And everywhere you look, there are Minions, which even got their own spin-off movie series. Pop culture is no longer imaginable without the little yellow helpers.
