Netflix’s most successful agent series returns in a few days. In The Night Agent Season 2, Peter Strickland has to solve a new conspiracy.
In 2023, The Night Agent became Netflix’s most successful agent series and continues to be one of the streaming service’s top 10 most-watched English-language series. After a hiatus of almost two years, the sequel to Season 2 is finally coming in a few days, sending the Night Agent into a new conspiracy.
When does Season 2 of The Night Agent start on Netflix?
Season 2 of The Night Agent will be hitting Netflix as early as January 23, 2025. It will again consist of 10 episodes, once again overseen by The Shield creator Shawn Ryan. Unlike Season 1, the new episodes are no longer based on Matthew Quirk’s novel and tell an original continuation of the story.
The Night Agent is ranked 7th in the top 10 most successful English-language Netflix series. The first season was watched almost 100 million times in the first 91 days. The huge success prompted the streamer not only to extend Peter Strickland’s adventures with a second season, but also to commission a third season last October.

A new mission for Night Agent Peter Strickland: That’s what Season 2 is about
Except for a few familiar faces, almost the entire cast has been replaced in The Night Agent Season 2. The reason for this is that each season of the action series is supposed to deal with a new and self-contained case for Agent Peter Strickland (Gabriel Basso).
You can watch the trailer for The Night Agent Season 2 here:
Peter was promoted to Night Agent at the end of the first season and is now on his first mission as part of the Night Action program in season 2. This mission takes him to Thailand, but it doesn’t go according to plan. It quickly becomes clear that there must be a leak within the CIA and that Night Action itself may have been compromised.
