This year, some exciting science fiction films await us on the big screen. The idiosyncratic Mickey 17, starring Robert Pattinson, is the first.
A new Avatar, a new Predator, a new Tron and a new Jurassic Park: among the biggest blockbusters of the year are some promising sci-fi projects that fans have been eagerly awaiting for months, if not years. Not to be forgotten in this list is Mickey 17 with Robert Pattinson.
The new film by Parasite director Bong Joon-ho will celebrate its world premiere at the Berlinale in February and will be released in German cinemas a few weeks later. To get you in the mood for this quirky adaptation of a novel, Warner Bros. has released a new trailer in which Pattinson’s character dies several times.
Before the Berlinale premiere: new trailer for the sci-fi movie Mickey 17 with Robert Pattinson in the leading role
Mickey 17 is based on the novel Mickey 7 – The Last Clone by Edward Ashton. The story revolves around Michael Barnes, or Mickey for short, who signs up for dangerous missions in space and on foreign planets. Should something go wrong, no problem: his next clone is already in the starting blocks.
But then something happens that shouldn’t: an old version of Mickey survives while the new one is activated. Suddenly there are two Mickeys in the room, causing chaos. Based on the trailer, Bong Joon-ho uses this premise for an extremely entertaining mix of science fiction and comedy.
His star is completely on board with the matter: Pattinson even brings the Mickeys to life with two different accents. In general, Mickey 17 fits perfectly into the former Twilight star’s chaotic and intrepid filmography. Here you will find one surprise after another.
