To get you in the mood for your very own cinematic adventure, VisitBritain has teamed up with award-winning The King’s Speech and Les Misérables director Tom Hooper to showcase the most beautiful film locations in the UK for you. Great Britain – the film shows you in a comedic, romantic and thrilling way the adventures you can have in England, Scotland and Wales, just like your screen heroes.
Whether in England, Scotland or Wales: discover the real star of the story at great locations
In the English metropolis of London, several locations await you that will make the heart of any movie and series fan beat faster. Cross Tower Bridge on foot, by bike or by car, which Tom Holland already swung over in the Marvel adventure Spider-Man: Far From Home. Reliving the iconic action moment is the perfect start to your movie-like vacation.
At St. Paul’s Cathedral, you shouldn’t do the same as Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible – Fallout and take an incredible leap from the roof of the building. However, you can see the famous dome and impressive architecture of the building. An exclusive tour of the House of Parliament, just a few miles away, will transport you to the late 19th century and the world of Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes.
If you are more into rural areas, you have the unique chance to feel like the lords and ladies of Bridgerton. Visit West Wycombe Park in Buckinghamshire and let yourself be transported back to the Regency era by the historic country house. However, we would not recommend you to do as Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) did in the Netflix hit and fall into the pond in front of the magnificent building.
A little further northwest, the fantastic worlds of Westeros await you. On the small island of Anglesey in North Wales, you can even see one or two dragons from House of the Dragon flying past in your mind’s eye while you walk along the stormy beaches that are ripe for a series.
It is also enchanting at the idyllic Loch Shiel. Instead of dragons, you might spot a certain magic student on the back of a hippogriff in the air during a relaxing canoe trip in the province of the Scottish Highlands, who you may have encountered in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. In any case, you will discover an unforgettable landscape here, along with magical creatures.
