There are currently many rumors surrounding the cast of the Harry Potter series. A big star of the movie adaptations is now jokingly claiming to have applied to be Hermione.
Half of Hollywood and the entire British film industry can apparently do magic. At least, that’s the impression you get when you look at all the casting rumors surrounding the upcoming Harry Potter series. Cillian Murphy, for example, is said to be playing either Voldemort or Quirrell. Now Lucius Malfoy actor Jason Isaacs is throwing his hat in the ring too. For the role of Hermione.
Harry Potter star jokes about returning to the series – he addresses a major problem
On the red carpet at the premiere of The White Lotus Season 3, Isaacs was asked about a possible return in the Harry Potter series, either in his regular role as Lucius Malfoy or as Hogwarts co-founder Salazar Slytherin. He told Deadline:
I hope to return as Hermione. I sent in my application video but haven’t heard back yet. They’ve got my number, though.
Jason Isaacs jokes, but some Harry Potter fans will intuitively wonder what his idea would look like in real life. At least in terms of his magnificent hair, his character Lucius doesn’t have to hide from Emma Watson’s Hermione. So Isaacs probably doesn’t need to change much.
But the actor’s comment also touches on two problems in the current Harry Potter discussion, of which many fans are aware. On the one hand, the rumor mill surrounding the cast of the series has taken on absurd proportions. Entire ranks of actors are now being touted as favorites. Isaacs’ casting as Hermione doesn’t even seem particularly bizarre in comparison.
But it’s not just the scope that’s absurd, but also the goals of the fan theories: of all people, the beloved stars of the movies are supposed to return in the series, according to 1000 rumors. And while lead actor Daniel Radcliffe “definitely does not” feel the desire to play another role in the franchise, some of his colleagues are much more open to the idea.
Although nothing but rumors exist about the cast so far, the Harry Potter series is seen as a deliberate fresh start. On the other hand, it owes its existence in part to the success of the movies. So long before the movie premiere, the mega-project is already a double-edged sword that makes the schizophrenic fan desire for the familiar and the new understandable.
When will the Harry Potter series be released in our country?
It is not yet known when and where the Harry Potter series will be released in our country. We are currently assuming a US release sometime in 2027. It is conceivable that the HBO production will end up on Sky and WOW in this country, just like Game of Thrones.
