Norman Reedus has already had a near-death experience – but an accident on the set of The Walking Dead surpassed even that. Read here what he experienced.

During the eleven seasons of the zombie series The Walking Dead, it wasn’t just the characters who were in mortal danger: Daryl Dixon actor Norman Reedus experienced a situation during the filming of the final episode of the series that put him in mortal danger.

The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus was already in mortal danger

As Entertainment Weekly reported in September 2022, the actor has already had to endure a lot in the course of his life. In 2005, he almost lost his life in Berlin as a result of a traffic accident in which he was run over by an articulated lorry.

As a souvenir from this time, he kept a left eye socket made of titanium and four screws in his nose, in addition to numerous operations. Reedus commented on this as follows:

My whole head was like a hamburger. It was just gnarly. I thought, ‘I’ll never be an actor again. It’s over.’

But the dangers were far from over.

Dangerous accident during The Walking Dead finale

There had been risky incidents during previous shoots – for example, Reedus once fell off a motorcycle.

During the filming of the final episodes of The Walking Dead on March 11, 2022, there was a serious accident on set . Little is known about the exact circumstances. What is certain, however, is that Reedus suffered a concussion – and a deep-seated fright.

The whole ordeal was terrifying for me personally. I thought I was going to die.

What followed was a long recovery period during which the actor could do nothing but sit in the dark and listen to soothing apps.

On top of that, Reedus felt guilty because the show’s schedule was severely disrupted due to his absence. Fortunately, he recovered and was able to complete his work on set.
