Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan are honored to appear in a mafia series by Guy Ritchie. The format has been snapped up by the international streamer Paramount+.
With MobLand, a crime series from Guy Ritchie (Snatch, Sherlock Holmes) with a criminally good cast has been announced, and it has found a home on the Paramount+ streaming service. It is set to start as early as the end of next month, at least in some regions. The format was originally developed as a prequel to a completely different successful series.
Mafia series MobLand with Tom Hardy: Guy Ritchie assembles impressive cast
According to Variety, MobLand is about the head of a family from the world of organized crime who is vying for supremacy within an international syndicate. In the process, the mafia clan wages war with another family from London that has also dedicated itself to organized crime.
The most prominent members of the MobLand cast are as follows:
- Pierce Brosnan as Conrad Harrigan, patriarch of the mafia family
- Helen Mirren as Maeve Harrigan, the clan’s matriarch
- Paddy Considine as Kevin Harrigan, the family’s son
- Tom Hardy as Harry Da Souza, a loyal fixer for the Harrigans
Further roles are played by Joanne Froggatt as Harry’s wife Jan, Lara Pulver as Kevin’s wife Bella, Anson Boon as Kevin’s son Eddie and Mandeep Dhillon as Conrad’s daughter Seraphina.
MobLand was originally intended as a spin-off story of a well-known character from the series
The original title of MobLand was The Donovans. The format was developed as an offshoot of the Ray Donovan series, but was later rewritten as a stand-alone gangster story. Tom Hardy takes on the part that was written with Liev Schreiber in mind.
Those who want to see Hardy in a long-awaited action hit from The Raid director Gareth Evans should keep an eye on Netflix this April. The film Havoc, which was announced several years ago, will finally be streaming there with him in the leading role.
When will the gangster series MobLand be released?
Paramount has announced MobLand for March 30, 2025, but only in English-speaking countries. Internationally, it should be available in the course of the year – as the streamer confirmed in a press release, also in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
