Call center intern Mae (Watson) urgently needs money to care for her father, who suffers from multiple sclerosis. When she gets the opportunity to join the hip tech company The Circle, she enthusiastically accepts the job.
The Circle, under the aegis of Eamon (Tom Hanks), is working on a technology that is supposed to guarantee total visibility. Mae eventually discovers a dark side to her new employer’s money rain, convincing ideology and lavish parties.
The Circle is based on the novel of the same name by author Dave Eggers (who also wrote the screenplay for Where the Wild Things Are). According to many critics, the adaptation could not live up to the celebrated original. Many criticized the lack of originality and a boring dramaturgy.

We hope that most viewers will spare Emma Watson their dislike. As the leading actress, she can only be held partially responsible for the lack of creativity in the story’s foundations.
