Yellowstone series In 1923, the latest episode of season 2 featured a shocking scene that was very challenging for actress Julia Schlaepfer.
Yellowstone fans can currently look forward to a new episode of season 2 of the prequel 1923 every week, which continues to expand the story of the Dutton family and their ranch. Die-hard Yellowstone fans know that the series often features shocking scenes that are difficult to watch. Some of these scenes are just as disturbing for the actors, who have to experience them on the set of the series themselves.
For example, a scene in the current episode titled “Surrounded by Horror” was so challenging for actress Julia Schlaepfer that she even had to seek therapy sessions on weekends.
Yellowstone star Julia Schlaepfer faced a tough scene in 1923 season 2
In the episode, Alexandra Dutton undergoes an incredibly cruel examination by several doctors on Ellis Island before she is allowed to enter the United States. As Julia Schlaepfer revealed in an interview with Collider, the scene, which took eight hours to film, challenged her emotionally on set:
The day we shot the abuse scene with the doctors was my first day of shooting the Ellis Island sequence, and I don’t think I realized what I was getting myself into emotionally, as a person, at the end of the day. It was a big learning experience.
As a result, Schlaepfer approached the following days of shooting a little differently:
From that moment on, I made sure to use the intimacy coordinators on set. There was a lot of therapy over the weekend to make sure I was mentally okay. Then I noticed physically that I couldn’t sleep for a while, so I had to do a lot of yoga, I took boxing lessons to let out my anger, things like that.
Nevertheless, Schlaepfer did not shy away from shooting the challenging scene and carefully discussed its content with series creator Taylor Sheridan in advance:
Taylor called me before he wrote the episode and asked me if it was okay for me to write this. He knew how challenging this would be for me as an actress. I said, ‘Absolutely. I want to tell this story. It’s what so many people have had to go through.’
