This celebrity began his career as a celebrated child star in one of the best sports films of all time. At the height of his fame, he ended his career. Today, he is once again very successful in front of the camera – but not as an actor.
It’s the year 2003 and a feature film is thrilling the whole of Germany: The Miracle of Bern attracts more than 3 million people to the cinemas and is considered an absolute cult among football fans. One character in particular is memorable: the protagonist of the film is an 11-year-old boy named Mattes, who wants to heal his emotional wounds with his love of football. Did you know that the boy’s actor is now a famous talk show host? A little hint: his partner is a controversial climate activist.
Today: talk show host, formerly a celebrated child star: Louis Klamroth can do it all
Correctly recognized: It is of course Louis Klamroth, who is now a moderator of the ARD political talk show Hart aber fair thick in the business. With curls and professional expertise, he welcomes guests from politics and the media and discusses current topics in our country with them. No matter how heated the discussions become, Klamroth (36) always keeps a cool head. This talent may also help him in dealing with his partner Luisa Neubauer (28): the climate activist has been vilified and harassed in social media for her work for years.
But how did it all begin? Klamroth is just 14 years old when he gets to play football-loving student Mattes in The Miracle of Bern. Although it is only his second film role, he delivers such a convincing performance that the critics suspect a new star in the acting sky. Klamroth even wins the Golden Camera as best young actor.
Klamroth proves that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree: his father Peter Lohmeyer is considered an absolute acting legend and has appeared in dozens of TV and cinema productions. Fun fact: the talented father-son duo even stood in front of the camera together as father and son for The Miracle of Bern.
Despite his huge success, Klamroth decided against a career in cinema. Instead, he completed his A-levels, did social work in crisis areas and graduated from renowned universities with a degree in political science. Ironically, his interest in politics and current affairs then led him back into the spotlight: from 2016, Klamroth presented his own political talk show Klamsroths Konter on n-tv, for which he was awarded the German Television Prize in 2018. Since then, things have been going steeply uphill. The rest, as they say, is history.
